Maria Hortencia Punina, 38, on a farm owned by her father Carlos Punina in 12 de Noviembre of San Carlos. She has lived on the farm for 32 years after Texaco left and did not know the area was polluted with petroleum. They once grew animals, but a cow, 2 pigs, and other animals fell in the pit and died almost immediately. She later lost two sisters while living on the farm; 22-year-old sister died three years ago of toxication. She says the ¨Consejo Provincial¨ has done tests and demonstrated that the area is polluted.
